It amazes me how obedient we are to the consumer culture.
Why do you think the online retalilers chose this day? Could it be so that they have four good weeks (remember we haven’t even lit the first Advent candle yet) to get stuff shipped out to us before Christmas? And they’ve managed to convince us all to act in a way to make their lives easier. Sigh…
Not satisfied with turning Christmas into a consumerist festival and the day after Thanksgiving into a National Day of Shopping, apparently today is the day we’re all supposed to shop online.
Maybe I can start a movement to make this Wednesday “send John McG a check Wednesday.” Can’t be much more ridiculous than “Cyber-Monday.”
